2. Why should I book my African safari with Nature Bound Africa?

We specialise in tailor-made journeys, including wildlife safaris, family holidays, multi-country adventures, Kilimanjaro climbs and Zanzibar beach extensions. We explain the proposed itinerary and costs before you confirm your booking.

3. How long has Nature Bound Africa been trading?

Nature Bound Africa was founded by Eliya Tumaini, a Tanzanian tourism professional whose experience includes working as a Kilimanjaro porter, safari driver-guide and operations manager. His practical experience on the mountain and in the safari industry informs how we plan and deliver our journeys.

Our company is locally based in Arusha, Tanzania, and our focus is on creating personalised trips grounded in local knowledge and meaningful travel experiences.

4. What ethical travel credentials does Nature Bound Africa have?

Responsible travel is an important part of our approach. We aim to support local employment, work with experienced local crews, collaborate with conservation-minded accommodation providers and respect the communities and ecosystems our journeys depend on.

We do not present these commitments as an independent certification. If you require a particular sustainability accreditation, please contact us to discuss the specific certification or documentation you need.

Our approach is explained on the About Nature Bound Africa page.

5. Am I contributing to charity by booking a tour?

Booking a safari with Nature Bound Africa supports the local tourism economy through the services included in your itinerary, such as guiding, transport, accommodation and other locally provided experiences.

We also value conservation and community partnerships. However, a booking should not be assumed to include a charitable donation unless that contribution is explicitly stated in your quotation or booking documents. If you wish to support a particular conservation or community initiative, ask us about suitable opportunities when planning your trip.

Safari styles and destinations

6. Are your safaris private or shared?

We offer tailor-made safari arrangements, including private trips designed around your own travel party. A private safari gives you greater flexibility over your schedule, route, accommodation and time spent at wildlife sightings.

Some itineraries or specific activities may involve shared services, depending on the arrangements selected. Your quotation will explain which services are private and which, if any, are shared.

Explore our tailor-made safari options.

7. Do you offer a single-share option, and how does it work?

A single-share arrangement may allow a solo traveller to share suitable accommodation or a safari service with another traveller, potentially reducing the cost compared with travelling alone.

Availability depends on the itinerary, accommodation, dates and whether a suitable sharing partner can be confirmed. A single-share arrangement should not be assumed to be guaranteed. If no suitable match is available, a single supplement may apply.

Tell us your preferred dates and destination when you request a safari quotation.

8. Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?

On a private safari, your travelling companions are generally the people in your own booking party. On a shared departure or shared activity, you may meet other travellers.

The arrangement depends on the itinerary you choose. We will explain whether your proposed trip is private or shared before you confirm your booking.

9. Which destinations does Nature Bound Africa operate in?

We organise tailor-made journeys across Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, Botswana and Zanzibar.

Tanzania and Kenya are our core operating destinations. For selected journeys in Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, Botswana and Zanzibar, we work with local partners to coordinate the relevant services.

Depending on your interests, your trip may include the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, the Maasai Mara, gorilla trekking, wildlife experiences in Southern Africa, or time on the beaches of Zanzibar.

Explore our African safari destinations and journeys.

10. Can I combine a wildlife safari with a Zanzibar beach holiday?

Yes. A wildlife safari followed by a Zanzibar beach holiday is a popular way to combine game drives with relaxation beside the Indian Ocean.

Your itinerary can be designed around the parks you wish to visit, the time available and the style of accommodation you prefer. Depending on your route and schedule, we can help coordinate the transfer from your safari destination to Zanzibar.

See our safari itineraries and tell us how many days you would like to spend on safari and at the beach.

11. Can you customise a safari to suit my interests and budget?

Yes. Our tailor-made safaris are planned around your travel dates, interests, budget, preferred accommodation and pace of travel.

You can discuss wildlife photography, the Great Migration, family travel, cultural experiences, birdwatching, private guiding, mountain climbing or a multi-country itinerary. We can then suggest suitable routes and accommodation options that fit your priorities.

The final cost depends on factors such as season, accommodation, transport, park fees, activities and the number of travellers.

Start planning through our safari enquiry page.

12. Can you accommodate families travelling with children?

Yes. We can help plan family safaris with suitable accommodation, age-appropriate activities and a realistic pace for travelling with children.

The best itinerary depends on the children’s ages, interests, travel dates and any accommodation or activity restrictions. Some lodges have minimum-age policies, and certain activities may have age limits.

Please tell us the ages of all children when requesting your quotation so that we can recommend suitable options.

Planning and booking your trip

13. How do I start planning my trip?

Start by telling us where you would like to travel, when you plan to arrive, how many people are travelling and what you would most like to experience.

It is also helpful to share your approximate budget, preferred accommodation standard, children’s ages if applicable, and whether you want a private safari or a multi-country journey.

Our team can use this information to recommend a suitable itinerary and prepare a quotation for you to review.

Contact Nature Bound Africa to start planning.

14. How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for travel during peak safari seasons, the Great Migration, school holidays and popular Kilimanjaro climbing periods.

Early planning provides a better opportunity to secure preferred accommodation, flights, permits and guides. Gorilla trekking permits and certain high-demand properties may have limited availability.

Last-minute trips may still be possible, depending on availability. Contact us with your intended dates so we can check the options.

15. Can I join the tour once it has departed?

Joining a safari after it has departed may be possible in some circumstances, but it cannot be guaranteed. It depends on the itinerary, your location, transport arrangements, accommodation availability, park rules and the cost of making changes.

If you expect to arrive late or miss a scheduled departure, contact us immediately. We will assess whether a safe and practical alternative can be arranged.

16. What happens if I need to change my holiday date after booking?

Date changes depend on the terms of your booking, the timing of your request and the availability and cancellation conditions of the suppliers involved.

Accommodation, flights, permits and other services may have change fees or non-refundable charges. We will review your request and explain the available options and any additional costs.

Please read our booking terms and conditions before confirming your trip.

17. What documents will I receive before I travel?

The documents provided depend on your itinerary and confirmed arrangements. These may include your booking confirmation, final itinerary, payment information, accommodation details, transfer arrangements and practical travel guidance.

Where applicable, we will provide relevant information about activities, permits and scheduled services included in your booking.

You are responsible for ensuring that your passport, visas, travel insurance and other personal travel documents meet the requirements for your journey.

18. What is included in the price of a safari?

Inclusions vary by itinerary, so always check your individual quotation. Depending on the trip, the price may include accommodation, meals specified in the itinerary, airport transfers, safari transport, the services of a guide or driver, park fees and listed activities.

Items that may be excluded include international flights, visas, travel insurance, tips, drinks, laundry, personal expenses and activities not listed in the quotation.

We will identify the inclusions and exclusions for your proposed itinerary so you can understand the overall cost before confirming your booking.

For more details, see our existing safari FAQs and booking terms.

19. What is your local payment policy?

Payment arrangements depend on the booking terms and the services included in your itinerary. Your quotation and booking confirmation should state the required deposit, payment deadlines, accepted payment methods and any applicable charges.

Under our published booking terms, a standard-season booking generally requires a 30% non-refundable deposit, while peak-season bookings generally require a 40% non-refundable deposit. Specific terms and exceptions should be checked against your booking documents.

A booking is confirmed when the required deposit or full payment has been received and written confirmation has been issued.

Please use the payment instructions supplied through our official communication channels and contact us if you need clarification before making a payment.

Read our booking terms and conditions.

Health, insurance and travel requirements

20. Do I need travel insurance for an African safari?

Yes. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for your trip. Your policy should consider emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation, medical evacuation, trip cancellation, travel delays and baggage loss.

Check that the policy covers the activities you plan to undertake, including safari travel, trekking or climbing where applicable. Standard travel insurance may not automatically cover every adventure activity.

Insurance requirements can also differ by destination, so check the relevant government rules before travelling.

21. Do I need travel health insurance to visit Kenya?

As of October 2026, Kenya requires eligible incoming visitors to hold government-compliant inbound travel health insurance, subject to the applicable exemptions. This requirement is separate from the broader travel insurance we recommend for trip cancellation, baggage and other travel-related risks.

Check the official government insurance portal for the latest eligibility rules, coverage requirements and application process.

Official resource: Kenya Inbound Travel Health Insurance.

22. Do I need health insurance to visit Tanzania?

Travellers should arrange suitable travel health insurance before visiting Tanzania. Requirements can depend on current government rules, nationality, travel arrangements and the destination within the country.

Check the latest requirements with Tanzania’s official authorities before departure. Your personal travel insurance should ideally cover emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation and evacuation from remote safari areas.

Do not assume that a policy required by another destination automatically satisfies Tanzania’s requirements.

23. Do I need health insurance to visit Zanzibar?

Zanzibar has a mandatory inbound travel insurance scheme for eligible international visitors. Travellers should check the current rules, exemptions and coverage arrangements before arrival.

The Zanzibar inbound policy is distinct from comprehensive travel insurance that may cover cancellation, baggage, personal liability or other travel risks.

Use the official Zanzibar inbound insurance portal to check the requirements and arrange cover where applicable.

24. Can I get a visa on arrival in Kenya, or must I apply online?

Most international visitors who require travel authorisation must obtain an approved Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before travelling to Kenya. Some nationalities and categories of travellers are exempt, so check the current rules for your passport.

Apply through the official government website, provide the requested travel documents and wait for approval before departure. Do not assume that you can complete the process on arrival.

Official application: Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation.

25. Can I get a visa on arrival in Tanzania, or must I apply online?

Visa arrangements depend on your nationality and travel circumstances. Some visitors can obtain a visa on arrival at designated entry points, while others may need prior approval or must follow additional procedures.

Applying through the official Tanzania Immigration eVisa system before departure is a useful way to check the requirements for your passport. Travellers who require a referral visa should allow additional processing time and obtain the necessary approval before travelling.

Official application: Tanzania Immigration eVisa.

26. Do I need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to visit Kenya or Tanzania?

Yellow fever vaccination and certificate requirements depend on your itinerary, country of origin, previous destinations and transit arrangements.

Kenya may require a valid International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis from travellers arriving from countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission. Tanzania also applies yellow fever entry requirements to certain travellers arriving from risk countries.

If your journey includes several East African countries, check the requirements for each border crossing. A certificate is generally considered valid from 10 days after the initial vaccination, and vaccination advice should be obtained from a qualified travel-health professional.

Consult the World Health Organization’s travel health resources and the relevant official authorities before departure.

27. Can I bring prescription medication to Kenya, Tanzania or Zanzibar?

Travellers can generally bring appropriate quantities of personal medication, subject to the destination’s import rules. Keep medication in its original packaging and carry a copy of your prescription or a letter from your doctor explaining the treatment.

Some medicines, particularly controlled drugs, strong painkillers, sedatives and stimulants, may be restricted or require prior authorisation. Check the rules with the relevant embassy or medicines authority before travelling.

Keep essential medication in your hand luggage where permitted, and carry enough for your trip within the applicable import limits.

28. What vaccinations or medicines should I consider before an East African safari?

Your travel-health needs depend on your itinerary, health history, planned activities and previous vaccinations.

Arrange a consultation with a qualified travel-health professional well before departure. Ask about routine vaccinations, yellow fever requirements, malaria prevention and any other destination-specific recommendations.

Malaria prevention can be important for many safari and coastal destinations. Follow medical advice about preventive medication, insect repellent and protective clothing. Seek medical attention promptly if you develop a fever during or after your trip, and tell the clinician where you have travelled.

For official guidance, consult the World Health Organization or a recognised travel-health clinic.

Accommodation, safety and current travel policies

29. Will the accommodation included in my safari meet local health and safety regulations?

We select accommodation according to the itinerary, availability, travel style and agreed budget. Properties are subject to the applicable local regulations and their own operating standards.

The type of accommodation available can vary between national parks, remote safari areas, towns and beach destinations. If you have specific accessibility, dietary, family or safety requirements, please tell us before booking so we can discuss suitable options.

30. What policies are in place for COVID-19?

COVID-19 entry, health and airline requirements can change. Travellers should check the latest official requirements for every country on their itinerary, including any transit destinations, before departure.

We recommend maintaining suitable travel insurance, following applicable public-health guidance and checking your airline’s requirements. If you become unwell before travelling, contact your healthcare provider and notify us as early as possible if your arrangements may be affected.

For current guidance, consult the relevant national authorities and the World Health Organization.

Best time to visit and final preparations

31. What is the best time of year to visit Tanzania?

Tanzania can be visited throughout the year, but the best time depends on your priorities. Wildlife viewing, the Great Migration, birdwatching, photography, beach holidays and Kilimanjaro climbing each have different seasonal considerations.

The drier months often offer favourable conditions for wildlife viewing in many parks. The timing and location of the Great Migration change throughout the year, while the green season can bring beautiful scenery, fewer visitors in some areas and excellent birdwatching.

Tell us which experiences matter most to you, and we can recommend a route and travel period that fits your interests.
