8-Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climb

8 Days 7 Nights

8-Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climb

The Lemosho Route begins on Kilimanjaro’s quieter western side and is widely valued for its scenery, varied terrain and gradual approach to altitude. It crosses the Shira Plateau before joining the southern circuit towards Lava Tower, Barranco, Karanga and Barafu. Eight days provide useful acclimatisation time and allow the early stages to be walked at a measured pace.

Why Choose Lemosho?

  • A scenic western approach with a quieter beginning
  • Eight days for gradual altitude adaptation
  • Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco Wall and Karanga Valley
  • Opportunities for climb-high, sleep-low acclimatisation
  • Excellent choice for travellers prioritising scenery and a balanced pace

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Lemosho suitable for a first Kilimanjaro climb?

Yes, for a well-prepared trekker. Its longer schedule is attractive to first-time altitude climbers, but no route guarantees a summit.

Is the route technical?

Standard Lemosho does not normally require ropes or specialist climbing skills, although the terrain, altitude and summit night are demanding.

What accommodation is used?

Guests sleep in mountain tents, while meals are normally served in a separate dining shelter.
